Remote work and hybrid workers are a new reality. How are organizations supposed to keep these workers engaged? What kind of security do they have from home?
Microsoft Solutions
Microsoft was better prepared for supporting companies through the pandemic because of their collaboration platform built with Microsoft SharePoint and TEAMS. This platform allows workers to work from anywhere, on any device, and still be able to engage with their teams and projects directly. TEAMS keeps people engaged in conversations, and communications, and allows them to use live collaboration while working on Office documents.
The missing piece for Microsoft however, was recognizing that remote workers were often connecting in from less secure locations, creating more security issues for network admins.
To resolve this problem, recently in May 2022, Microsoft announced Entra. Entra is a collection of security features that enforce high levels of security using multi-factor authentication and biometrics, to simplify the login process for remote workers. NEW SECURITY FEATURES
Microsoft Entra
Microsoft Entra is our new product family that encompasses all of Microsoft’s identity and access capabilities. The Entra family includes Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), as well as two new product categories: Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) and decentralized identity. The products in the Entra family will help provide secure access to everything for everyone, by providing identity and access management, cloud infrastructure entitlement management, and identity verification.
Organizations simply can’t put up gates around everything—their digital estates are growing, changing, and becoming boundaryless. It’s virtually impossible to anticipate and address the unlimited number of access scenarios that can occur across an organization and its supply chain, especially when it includes third-party systems, platforms, applications, and devices outside the organization’s control.
It includes Microsoft Azure AD, Permissions management, and Verfied AD.

Permissions Management
Discover, remediate, and monitor permission risks across your multi-cloud infrastructure with a cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) solution.

Create, issue, and verify privacy-respecting decentralized identity credentials with an identity verification solution that helps you enable more secure interactions with anyone or anything.
Features like multifactor authentication (MFA) are a great way to secure your organization, but users often get frustrated with the additional security layer on top of having to remember their passwords. Passwordless authentication methods are more convenient because the password is removed and replaced with something you have, plus something you are or something you know.
Three Components of Entra:
- Something That You Have: For example a smartphone.
- Something You Are: For example a human face used for recognition
- Something That You Know: For example a pin used for multi-factor authentication.
Migrating SharePoint and Building a TEAMS Collaboration Platform
Many organizations used SharePoint in their on-prem environments for decades. Now they want to migrate to SharePoint Online to make it easier for their employees to access files and information remotely. Moving files shares in an orderly way, redesigning news portals and team sites, and consolidating information is a labor intensive task that can be very disruptive to an organization.
